Testimonial
The Phoenix centre sports hall, meeting room and office space have proved hugely helpful to our organisation in enabling us to better serve the local community.
We have been able to provide regular weekly sports sessions for Home Educated children and young people, as well as providing additional opportunities through collaboration with partners who also use the space.
We have set up Community Basketball sessions, that operate with the intention of providing a supportive and welcoming space, where children can play, without the highly competitive elements that organised team sports can involve, which often put children and young people off.
We deliver community outreach pre-school physical literacy sessions and partner with the local nursery to support the development of young children through our Active Tots sessions. We deliver Active Tots through both Mult skills and Football.
We also support a number of children who struggle to cope with the mainstream education system and have EHCP’s. These children and young people who are EOTAS (Educated other than at
South Coast Sports Coastal CIC
school) have found the space invaluable, particularly during the cold and wet winter months.
We are delivering HAF sessions for teens at the centre and this summer we will collaborate with UK Harvest to provide a 4 week Food education programme for the young people involved.
We also support the SEND community with SEND Active sessions, which we partially subsidise to ensure sessions are affordable for all.
